Oh well. Already ordered a new resistor. Call it preventative maintenance.

My blower has a bad bearing. I’ve contemplated replacing it (apparently the official Volvo instructions have it as a dash out procedure, but it seems it can be done just removing the glove box with some contortion, and most instructions I’ve seen say just break off the difficult to reach fastener tab). Ultimately though, it’s a lot of work and money (especially since I’d probably replace the resistor as long as I’m in there, since they are failure- prone ), so I just avoid setting the blower above 6/10 unless it’s really hot out (it starts vibrating fiercely above that).

It fixed itself because you ordered the part to fix it. That’s just German cars for ya.

My Z3 would only work on high for a few weeks and right before I ordered the resistor it started working again lol

Lol yep pretty much confirms its that resistor. Glad its that and not the blower. Not that the blower is hard to replace, its just way more time consuming.
Also like that your radio is also giving the big F U

That happened in a friend’s E30, the motor was replaced regardless.

I have noticed that climate control failures happen in this (or very similar) order
AC stops being cold in the summer
Heating stops being hot in the winter
If those two are fixed, blower breaks
This happened to me in two different cars, so this is a core belief now
